I finally was able to incubate a small bunch of Olive Eggers a month ago. And I have had the worst luck. I have one second generation and two first generation that are giving me a huge headache concerning gender.
The second gen chick is Cream Legbar/ BCM cross hen with a BCM roo. The first gens are CL hen / BCM roo.
Here's my dilemma. The second gen chick was hatched black with a white headspot. Now, at a month its barred (like a cuckoo maran). Of the first gens, one is solid black, definitely a pullet, but the other is barred and has a larger comb just like the second gen. The combs are pink, small little pink waddles.
They don't act like roos. No chest bumping etc. One is actually very shy.
Is it possible to have a barred OE pullet from a CL hen and BCM roo? According to my research, all barred chicks would be male. But then again? Any one with experience with CLhen/ Maran roo Olive Eggers out there?
