Corancher - how impressive - what great progress you are making with your laced projects! you are not far off getting the black band to go completely around the outside of most feathers on the Roo's chest. Regarding your sl project, the point that people give up is the point when they have nearly arrived! You could try crossing your sl and gl together which may sharpen up the lacing in both colours. This crossing is sex-linked but perhaps someone else could come on and say what you would get with, say, a female gl crossed with a male silver laced, as I would have to look it up myself as a reminder. With this cross you will get a bit of brassiness in the background of the silver laced, but this can be cleaned up with another backcross. You might find that this cross transforms your silver laced project and might also help the gl along.
Since I made the suggestions about creating laced colourings, and I got the information from an experienced breeder, I now know that a single comb Wyandotte is helpful to start with but not strictly necessary as the rose comb (and yellow feet etc) can be bred out. Probably more important to find a dotte with immaculate lacing. Grant Brereton's book "20th Century Poultry Breeding" states what we need to know in a jargon-free manner.
