Gentically Modified Layer Feed?

I have been wondering if the layer feed I purchase contains some or all genetically modified grains. I buy the Agway brand layer crumbles and of course, nothing has to be labeled GM (thank-you FDA). After reading more and more about the horrors of these GM products, I really want to avoid them as much as possible, including having them make-up any part of my chicken or eggs.

Does anyone use a "clean" GM free feed? Can I purchase an organic layer feed to avoid these GM products? I'd like to start with my next bag of feed to avoid these products and hopefully salvage alittle more of my family's health by removing these monster products from our diet. The fact that other countries have banned GM and/or made it mandatory to label foods that contain them while we (USA) are just fed this junk really worries me.

THere are organic feeds out there, but GM corns are are really just selectively-bred plant stock--which humans have been doing for a long time now.

The term, "genetically-modified" is a bit of a misnomer.

An organic feed shouldn't have any GMO ingredients in it.

GMO grains have different unrelated genes in them. They are not just "hybrid" plants. Organic should not have GMO. There appears to be some feed companies starting to do GMO feeds without being organic. Almost all corn & soybeans are gmo in this country, so it is really hard to stay away from. You could try feeding peas & such, but I think at least in australia they have begun making GMO field peas. I am using pigeon feed with peas and other things in & YES I realize these crops are raised with pesticides, but I just am trying to stay away from corn & soybeans. I add fertrell nutribalancer & fish meal to the mix. Our food supply is truly messed up.

Beside buying organic layer feed, I suggest you write to Purina and any other feed company and request that they produce feed with no GMO ingredients. The more of us make our preferences known, the better.

Please do write to Purina and the rest. I've done it, but they must hear from a lot of us before they offer different. GMO plants actually have viruses, pesticides and other nasties spliced into the plant cells. Then the plants are cloned. I sure don't want my intestines or the guts my animals to become pesticide machines. Nor do I want any of use to end up with cancers caused by our food supply. Blech!
