All the Cuckoo Marans roos I have had are EXCELLENT at protecting the female flock. My surviving roo, Jean-Robert, watches the door while they roost at night, gives them all the treats, and even tries to protect his egg offspring. He is a big softy with me, though. If he gets out of line with his spurs, I just yell at him and he cowers down, tail between his legs. If he gets out of the coop, I just pick him up and put him back in, no chasing required. I just love that guy

Handsome fella, look at all those eggs. Thats a good set up you have there.
Is it you roost and nest box combo?
Thats a cool idea, then you only would really have to shovel out that area.
