I'm little further north of you both, just outside of Halstad, MN. and I have Wyandottes too!
But I only have 3 and they aren't for sale at the moment.
They are egg laying machines though! They have laid all winter, every day! I still have the email of the guy I bought them from. He may be selling more. I bought them last Fall and they started laying a couple weeks later and have been laying ever since. They were hatched spring of 2009.
Let me know if you want his info. He is in Fertile, MN.

As an FYI... there is a feed store in Halstad located right next to the bank called Eagletree Feeds that has all the chicken supplies you could ever need. Her feed and oyster shell prices are cheaper than in Fargo!

After reading on this site about Diatamaceous (sp) Earth, I asked if she could handle that too and she will have it available soon! She will also be stocking feeders, waterers, etc.
The store also has horse, dog, cat, and all the other feeds there too. I hate to sound like a commercial, but she has some cute consignment stuff there too. I just really like her store and am hoping she makes it, so I need to spread the word!

Oh, and it is only open part time, so Thurs - Sat. Go check it out!

Well Hello there neighbor! Sometimes I feel like I'm all alone around here in this chicken mania!

Thanks for the heads up on the feed store. And tomorrow is Thurs! Better go check it out! And if she starts carrying DE that would be great and save alot on shipping charges.
My BLRs were laying like crazy too. Nice big eggs up until about a week ago and now its just been sporadic. 1 is extremely broody and another is seriously thinking about it! Haven't seen signs of a molt tho. Maybe they're just as tired of winter as I am. And we still have spring flood to go!

I'll post it here when she starts carrying DE. She said it would be soon, so hope it is!
Are you by the river or a bad place for the flood? We were fine until they started doing all the diversions to get the water away from Ada and then got flooded out. We did the buy out and are in a good area now... so far, anyway!
It doesn't look good for this spring... but maybe we'll have a slow thaw. We can always hope!

I was up to the Halstad store. Nice place and nice gal! I was thrilled she had the Nutrena feed cuz it has the animal protein in it. Haven't been able to find it anywhere else around here. And if she gets the DE too that'll be great! We visited a long time. Very enjoyable!

Yea I'm in a bad spot for the water. A little over a mile from the Red. It went over my dike last spring and I only have it built up half way around so I am more than a little worried. I stayed on my place cuz I had to keep the greenhouses going and of course the chickens! I did lose a few. Just got one of the heaters for the greenhouse working this weekend after being under water last spring. All the talk is really scary. It was very difficult to say the least. All right it was pure hell! Time will tell. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best right!?
