Hi! I have some rir hens and roosters. I have a white leghorn rooster. And I have Dominique hens and roosters.

rhode island reds- Lay large brown eggs most everyday, single combed and rather large breed size. do well in both cold and hot weather and clean legged non setters.

Dominique- lay large light brown eggs most everyday, rose combed roosters and single combed hens, rather large breed size. cold hardy, clean legged and sometimes broods.

leghorn- (i only have a rooster) lay large white eggs most everyday, single combed and small but not bantam size. hardy, heat tolerant, clean legged and non setters.

they are 17-19 weeks old. roosters are crowing and hens will be laying any day now.

Thank you for reading!

True Dominigue hens don't have single combs.

Dominiques have a rose comb (spiked), while Plymouth Rocks and RIR have single combs.

I think these chickens are "true" Dominiques with the wrong term used for their comb style.

My wife likes to tell me that our two Dominiques have pea combs, but that is just because they are still young and the spiky part hasn't grown much.

I introduced my Dominique chicks on BYC as Speckled Dominiques (feed store called them that) and Speckled Hen gave me the straight story. 1 variety of Dominique and that is the Barred, not speckled.
