German Hybrid Angora - My Rabbit, Peter

This is Peter.

He is a german hybrid x angora.

This pen he is in on my patio for afternoon sunshine is 36 inches long.

Peter is a big boy.

Ummmmm, Peter's a pet, right? Not that I have ANY problem with people eating bunnies but Peter's SOOOOOOO cute....

He sure is a handsome bunny.

OH! (huge sigh of relief) That's wonderful! He's a beautiful, BIG boy. You can probably make a sweater just out of ol' Peter there!

what a pretty boy! I like his color

I have a French Angora doe and have made tiny piece of a scarf from her wool, she has molted only twice so far, she is still a baby and French are pretty small compared to the other Angoras. I have been surprised at how easy it is to work with as far as plucking and spinning.

Peter won't loose his wool on his own. You can't pull it either. He has to be shaved. HIs wool isn't very forgiving and it has to be mixed with other wool for the garment to have a little stretch to it.

I am hoping this year to find him a lady friend of the same breed.

He really needs to be sheared. We had sub zero temps last week. I am so glad I didn't shave him on schedule. He would have froze to death!
