German Wyandotte or?

My chicken are German Wyandotte according to my neighbor who gave us. Are they? Are they known with any other names? What are their characteristics? I can't find to much information about them.

I suspect most are Wyandotte mixes. The colors aren't good, some have single combs, and one has the wrong leg color. So either mixes or low quality as far as the standards go.

Low quality in the sense that they don't conform to the breed standard (that is, they aren't going to be winning any prizes at a show!) Of course, that doesn't really matter for backyard chickens, since most are in it for eggs/meat/fun.
