Got a silkie with what looks like malformed claws! Should they be trimmed?

No, the bend is way past the quick. I worry she is sick, as healthy chickens scratch and will never have over grown nails.

@aart
Oh boy, she doesn't go out with the other chickens & stays in nest most of the time!'she doesn't perch either. She has been like this for over a year

Yes, I would trim them. You should be able to trim them at the blue line.

I suggest that you check her for scaly leg mites, those can be quite painful. If she's in the nest most of the time, I wonder if she doesn't have an illness. Has she lost weight or soes she feel thin? Does she limp when she walks?

She lets me hold her and cuddle her and is nice and plump. She eats and drinks just doesn't go out much. We lost her partner last year so she is the only small girl of 12 chickens. I was gunna get her a partner hoping that would cheer her up untill I noticed her claws. I pick her up daily & now upset that I didn't notice it before now!

Actually thought she was broody so I left a few eggs under her but then she left the nest! She likes to sit on both her eggs and other eggs!
