Okay, folks, I've found the magic bullet for getting rid of all that thick dust in your coop(s). Get yourself a hand-held leaf blower, extension cord, and a dust mask from Home Depot for a couple of bucks for several. Put all the chickens out of the coop, open all the doors, windows, and anything else that opens. Stand in the door, dust mask on, with the blower on full power and within ten minutes for an 8- x 12-foot coop you have a coop that will pass the white-glove test, no kidding. I cleared two 4'x8' coops and a barn 12'x24'x12'h barn in no time flat. Just be sure to WEAR THAT MASK AT ALL TIMES and be ready to take your shoes and clothes off before going inside to shower; otherwise, be prepared for your wife's hitting you upside your dusty head with a skillet. You might want to turn the hose on yourself outside; believe me, you're going to be covered with dust... wear that mask(s); don't breathe it.

I bought a used sportsman that had not been cleaned after the last hatch and was stored in a barn.

I used a leaf blower to blow all the mouse droppings and bits of egg shells out!

Heh, heh, for the modest among us, we can set the blower on low and turn it on ourselves. Carefull with the eyes! Then you can strip inside, LOL. Good suggestion, Joe........Pop

Great idea.I never thought of using a blower.I am usualy dragging my huge cumbersome shop vac around at cleaning time. Will give it a try on one of my smaller coop's see how it does. Thanks DG

Haven't blown the coops and barn pens out for six months. Can't get Anne to do it, so I guess I'll have to; it's getting dusty again quickly because I have more chickens than ever. How'd that happen?
