Think if I plasti dipped the plank it would work? Would 4 inch side rails be okay?

How well does it stick to wood?? Here is what I found that would be of concern...

For training purposes, I would make them a bit taller than your birds are so that they can't see over them.

Sprayed on lightly it won't peel off and, it's pretty easy to control the texture.
