Getting a buddy for a 16week special needs pullet

I think that Buff Orpintons are the best! You may have other thoughts, but I have a few Buffs that are sure kind and the nicest addition to my flock!
I also found this on the internet-
Orpington Chickens are a friendly breed
Orpington Chickens are a friendly breed A hen of a docile breed, who is used to being handled, can become very tame and friendly. These are considered some of the best friendly fowl (and therefore mot suitable for children, too): Australorp. Barred Rock.

So that also supports my thoughts!
Well that's what I had been hoping but...
But in many ways they're delightful.

What breed is she? Silkie may be a good choice. They are generally nice to other birds.😊
I had buffs who were sweet to people, not so much to other chickens. No offense to Orpington lovers, just a personal observation.😊

I have heard great things about Silkies being very kind, and now that I think about it, Polish are supposed to be pretty docile too! Low on the pecking order, keep to themselves. I have never owned one, but has still heard they are a great breed!

Were your Orpintons mean? I think it really depends on the bird rather then the breed, but odiously, some breeds will be nicer then others. Like, a RIR probably wouldn't be a good choice, high on the pecking order, bossy. Hope this helps!

I have both breeds and they are sweethearts.😊

My Araucana and Easter Egger mixes are the least aggressive of my gang. They never seem to be on the top of the pecking order and don't mind that. They also (in my experience) seem to choose a buddy to hang out with so that might work in your favor. If you get a buddy or buddies, I would choose pullets younger than your special one. Although size doesn't always determine who's boss, if they're younger you have less chance of them picking on her. I've never had Orpingtons, but my Rhode Island Red and my Barred Rock were the bossiest of all and they were always switching who was leader of the pack.

That's what I'm finding in a way, depending on the individual they're a fair size if they want to be grumpy.

Depending on the individual personality a silkie might be a great idea!

I don't know if I'd say mean... the rooster bite probably threw her for a loop, and I think she wants to protect her friends... but sometimes forgets who they are! Which wouldn't matter as much if she wasn't the biggest!
