getting a muskovy hen can she breed with my pekin?

i think i read that only muscovys can breed with muscovy is this true? i have never owned 1 and dont wanna do something stupid

I think they can breed anything but the offspring will be sterile

thats what my father inlaw said. he did it years ago and all his where sterile. i guess she is really broody so i could but my other eggs under her to hatch then? i could just mark mine and take hers out.

Most will be sterile. They are not all sterile.

if the females are steril they would still lay right? just not hatch?

Yes they would still lay. I would say chance are out of 12 all would be sterile. I don't know the exact statistics. I would say out of 100 maybe one or two would be fertile. I just meant it is not 100% that they are sterile. You can get fertile mule ducks.

Where I live we have Muscovy ducks that have breed with Malards with no problems at all, most of them are now mixed
