If you have the proper cage and feed i'd say go on ahead! They have quite the personalities and will need to be spend much time with and be handled everyday, Make sure that in your cage the parrotlet has some things to play with too since they are very attive birds and can get bored very easily. parrotlets also thrive on a basic diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, greens, seed and pellets. They should also receive whole wheat bread, cooked rice, pasta and cooked dried beans. A healthful diet of a variety of foods is the best.

I had two! They have BIG personalities! LOL
As with all birds, they need a good quality pellet, seed, and fresh foods. Mine both loved all veggies, especially habaneros. I find that they need more work than other parrots to be handled. Go slow. They take some time to warm up!

I have two caiques and a senegal as well. All three are great choices!

ETA: Oh and chicken math? It's not just for chickens. You'll end up with a few more birds before the years over. :)
