Getting Back to Basics

I grew up with a dad who grew a great garden, and raised chickens, pigeons, sheep and rabbits. I hated it, but that may have had more to do with where we were living at the time. Now I‘m 65 and finally learning to love what Dad did. So, I‘m looking forward to getting some chickens in the near future so I can help feed my fellow San Diegans. I hope I‘ll be able to get some help here from others in the area on what breed to go with, and other things that might be different between raising chickens in San Diego as opposed to Kanab, Utah.

Hi and welcome! Your upbringing sounds similar to mine, we had a garden and livestock but I loved it! Married a city boy so that was on hold for many years but now I’ve got my garden and chickens.
