I am currently visiting some friends in a city neighborhood - whatever you want to call it , lots of houses lots of pets, lots of kids.

I kill snakes every other weekend at my house, since I live on some acreage and have ducks. So im used to cutting off their heads as quick as possible to try and stop the pain.

Well While walking my friends dogs we see people start to gather round in the neighbors yard, went over to investigate and there was a 3 foot chicken snake - small. Well of course the adults were freaking out and the kids thought it was cool . Everyone wanted it dead though , but no one wanted to approach it. So I sent one of the boys off to get me a shovel, since one already had a bat. I used the bat to distract it then hold its head down, then severed the head with a shovel.

Dead. Quick. Hopefully not painfully long for the snake.

My friend found out about it and had a FIT! now let me give you a little back ground :

She has been vegan for three years, once broke in to a chicken house when she saw employees beating them, big animal rights person, but she is on another planet. Depressed most of the time, constantly seeking out relationships when they are doomed to fail. She is weak and lets society get to her.

She goes off and says how im a murderer and blah blah blah.
I was a vegetarian for two years, Im more involved in animals than she is , I actually have animals to care for every day. Its not a once a day thing, oh ill take care of them when I feel like it - No. Its a 24/7 job.

SHe thinks , that just because she has horses, chickens, cats, goats, and such on HER AUNTS farm that she knows everything.

Im just annoyed because she is telling me how it was a poor defenseless snake and that i didnt have to kill it and how I should have relocated it and such.

1) I told the neighbors that it was non poisonous and rodent control
2) You dont relocate snakes or predators because that is just putting your problem on someone else.

I told her this - yet now she is on an anti kate strike because I killed a snake in the neighborhood. She knows I kill them at my house because I have animals to protect. Its just annoying and it irks me that she is being immature and acting like this!

Sorry, Just had to vent a little.

Some people are Christians. Some people are Muslims. Some people are Jews.

Your friend is a Vegan.

It's her religion.

Think about it....

No, I mean stop for a second and reeeeeeeeeeally think about it..

Now, what happens when people talk religion? Arguments ensue, invariably... Heated arguments, sometimes, but when you knowingly engage in religious discussion, that's to be expected. Everyone knows it, so everyone expects it, and nobody's caught off guard.

People still get offended, of course, but they're rarely surprised and offended...

Talking "religion" with her, though, is different...her reaction didn't make sense to you because you didn't know you were talking religion! You thought you were talking about killing a snake....she thought you were nonchalantly devaluing and degrading the only moral belief system she's ever found herself able to abide...the only thing she has to cling to, if you will...the only thing that prevents her entire world from falling away in little pieces.

This is an extremely troubled person, btw.

Or...Hey, I could be totally wrong. Could be that they got her latte all wrong at Starbucks.

I can't believe I am on the side of the relocators on this one. Coons and fox and such do not live long on my property. But snakes eat mice and rats. Surely we've all seen those films of mice pouring by the thousands out of grain bins in Australia. I'll take chicken snakes over rats and mice any day.

I could be very wrong, but I think this is one animal you can relocate without causing someone else a problem. Just a matter of finding a spot where there are lots of mice and such to eat. I do it more because I don't want the population of them to get too small than for any other reasons.

Around here, they are alternately called chicken snakes and rat snakes.

Maybe a bit of an overstatement, but I see the point. Based on a belief system.

My view: no belief is true.

All I have to ask...

Did you put the snake in the middle of the road afterwards? Honestly..it's HILARIOUS to see people dodge a dead snake in the road!

Or those that drive over it...back up and drive over it again!

Not a snake hater, like the help they give controlling rodents, have moved snales out of the way so we could mow, drive. They haven't gone after my livestock yet.

Sounds like Goat_Walker made a clean job of what appears to have been inevitable mob behavior. Not going to judge anyone involved.

Goat_Walker is frustrated by the behavior of a sibling, I think we have all been there.

Decide whether You want it to be part of the baggage you carry regarding your sister. Drop it or take it up. You can't do a thing about her decision or behavior.
