Hello all. Charlie from TN here. Wife and I are bringing some birds home on Sunday. Both of our families raised chickens when we were kids and we've wanted to get some of our own for a number of years. out daughters, 6 and 9 year olds are quite excited as well.
We are buying a coop and 9 RIR from a gentleman who has to move. The birds have been averaging 7-8 eggs per day and appear to be healthy. Eventually we want to raise some small batches of fryers and my oldest is quite interested in the 4-H program and raising birds on her own as well.
Anyway, we have been reading this forum almost non-stop for the past several days. Tons of info and some very nice folks.
