I live in Mexico and am trying to get my hands on button quail eggs. It's hard, though! No one seems to know what they are and those that do attacked me for it. They said I was being cheap by wanting eggs and not adults, that they only lay once a year and nobody would sell me their eggs. I don't want adults, I want babies that I can raise as my own. Does anyone know if it is currently possible to ship hatching eggs from the US to Mexico? Would the eggs survive?

Please help!

It sounds strange that they are only laying once a year - I think they might not know exactly what bird you are talking about. Button quail is actually just a nick name for the Chinese painted quail, there is a bird that's actually called a button quail as well - not sure if those are even kept in captivity though.
If you try asking for Chinese painted/Chinese blue breasted or King quail (that's what they are called in Australia) eggs, you might have better luck.
I find it hard to believe there are no one willing to sell their eggs - I throw many eggs out every time I clean the cages, they are definitely not just laying once a year. If someone wanted to pay me for the eggs, I'd love to collect eggs for them. I'm sure there are bird people in Mexico with button quail in their aviaries - they might not usually be selling the eggs, but surely they would be willing to, if you can just find them.

I even posted photos of the birds and people kept saying the same thing. Since I live in Mexico I also have to translate, and the only other name I know for them in Spanish besides a literal translation is "codorniz enana" or dwarf quail. Considering getting even a pure bred chicken is pretty hard... :/ I'd like it if I could get eggs shipped from the US but idk how hard it is to do that. I know it can be done though.

If you're talking about these, mine lay every day.
