I have recently purchased 4 20 week pullets and I am having much difficulty getting them to go into the coop at night for bed. Any tips? I am trying the "keep them in the coop for a week" strategy, but I was wondering if there was everything else

The only tip I can really offer that has been effective for me is throwing some pellets or treats in the coop, that way they will run in to eat the food and you can shut the door.
Good luck

After you do the week or ten days they should go up at night by themselves. Now if you want them to go up early or even at night that requires training. I started by standing by the door at dusk when they went up. After awhile I added a small bit of scratch on the cool floor. Also I called them as I was doing this. After a few weeks they came when called and went in after "I assumed the position" by the door. Now this works if you follow the same routine everytime. Also chickens are smart,if you give them scratch as an incentive, do it every time. Also you can't expect them to join up early every night, then will rebel. Or at least mine dif.
