getting chickens

Im going to be getting chickens next spring and i would like to know what breeds of egg laying chickens that i should get.

Where are you? Some breeds are more cold-hardy and some do better in hotter regions.

wyandottes are my favorite. you can get several color varieties. (silver laced, gold laced, blue laced red, white, partridge, plus a few more)

they are cold hardy, look nice in your backyard, they enough brown eggs to keep your family in eggs, and they lay pretty good for 3 years or so. whats not to like?

i live in Michigan and i was doing some research and i learned that Rhode island reds and barred rocks are cold hearty so i think that Im going to get those.

those are also very good choices, i have a few of those in my flock as well.
