Hi all!
After a couple of years of procrastination i'm finally going to start keeping some chickens this year. I live on Long Island, NY and my town only allows me to have 6 female chickens. I've decided to start small and get 3 and am thinking of getting an Easter egger (colored eggs thought my 4 year old son would love), Columbian Wyandotte (wife and son want a white one and thought it looked cute) and a Speckled Sussex (friendly for my son). hopefully they'll all get along, now just have a couple of months to figure out a coop. look forward to getting lots of advice from you all.

Welcome to BYC, again. Glad you decided to join our flock. I've had all three of those breeds (technically EEs are not a breed) and they should get along just fine as long as they are not overcrowded in too small a coop/run. Our EEs are my granddaughter's (pictured in my avatar) favorite chickens. She loves their colored eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your coop and flock.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

As Michael has mentioned, they should all get along well as long as you give them enough space. Chickens can go off on each other if they feel cramped in. So about 5 square feet per bird in the coop, 10 square feet per bird in the run. You might want to stop by our coops pages for some ideas on building yours.....https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops

Good luck with the coop build and your flock! If you have any questions along the way, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!
