To wet here to use straw but know what you mean been getting colder this week
but high 30's still raining we can have snow 10 miles from us either way did the grocery shopping either side of us not here micro climates

Oh I only use straw in the dog house they sleep in. The pen/Barn is sand with a corner of straw too. I don't let them out into the big goat yard when it's cold though.

Big yard is dogs other yard belongs to the main coop I am being whiney I tired of the rain cannot use straw shaving get wet they compost great I am just tired of the month of rain nothing but rain

I hate rain too. It definitely is challenging.

It's awful cold here today. My kids are safe and not happy though. They want out but the weather is deadly.
-42C windchill here...

That is beyond cold I have driven in Alberta beautiful but challenging

Definitely it's awful. I haven't even looked in my chickens Coop till evening feeding time because I don't let the warm air out till then..

We never really get that cold may not open the silkie door if it is storming sideways rain
but the big girls this is my main coop but is going on 6 years old now.. I layed burlap on the walls 5 years ago .... think come spring or summer as it dries out bit I will pull that down

Yes it was it is now 6 years old hey we got a excuse for snow not quite a inch but white birds will not walk in it last time have to see who is out
