Getting Goat kids

You got goats? Holy smokes! Post pictures please!!!!!
Oh yes...I have 13 goats...two just kidded last Friday...5 kids! It was such a wild experience...one went right after the other...we were barely done blow drying the kids when I checked the other girl...sure enough..it was time! The first mom...her first kid was breach! The sac came out...and labor stopped. Then it broke! We had to go in...we were sooo scared! But he was ok! We only expected 3 kids total..guess we were wrong! We thought we would sell one...but we’re keeping them all..can’t part with them. Two bucks. Not sure if we’ll wether them both. They are a handful as bucks. They were disbudded Friday...it was hard.

Loved the photos there Duck farmer well said not for wimps but neither are chickens ..
Have a new tribe started here not on purpose grew up 3 Blue marans 1 pullet 2 cockerel .. took on to auction.. Other thought I would have 2 cockerel for 30 birds ... Red the EE is 5 months older than Blue, scared the tar outta Blue chasing him so Blue went back to the grow out coop apparently the two pullets from auction are ready to lay Blue did the dirty with the EE if he is not too hard on her it will be fine ... My grow out coop feeds to the front yard of the main coop .. The other in there are 5 speckled sussex but that coop is small cannot handle 9 grown hens.....

My one goat won’t nurse her triplets since we got them disbudded on Friday. So, it’s been tough. She’s engorgEd, so I milk her down, then we put them on her, but we have to hold her at first because she fights it. Every 4 hours. We have them penned in the kidding stall together. Covered it with plywood so the buggers can’t get out. Today they seemed like they might have gotten a bit to drink off her themselves, but we can’t risk it...so, we put milk on their heads and bums, and we’ll keep going out ...hopefully for just a couple more days. The other mom is super mom..and I think she interfered and nursed them all. She even crawls in their insulated box with all 5! It’s the same size as a blue barrel, but we built them. Hopefully, just a few more days?? I was ok with bottle feeding one, if she couldn’t keep up with them all..but I don’t like that she’s not caring for them....but, she’s just the best goat ever...she’s just thrown by the smell of the disbudding....:(

They are pretty...I’ve gotten a few blue eggs...but apparently EE don’t lay colors all the time? My hubby doesn’t want to keep our roosters. We had one, he was a real jerk! He’s gone now. He tore up the girls. Now we have two cockerels....they are from the fall bunch....they are starting to ...get pretty frisky...but they are very nice to us. We have 40 hens, so 2 cockerels is not a problem. But, I’m starting to agree that, the girls don’t need the abuse. Hubby doesn’t think we even need one...I want chicks, plus they protect my girls! But, I do hate how they tear them up...but, I can’t imagine making 40 saddles....we’ll see.

I have always kept one cockerel I grew on a cattle ranch I have a farmers mind ...
They protect the other is how er keep the flock up as some age .. We had 100 all the time as kid so like 5 or 6 cockerel .. I have less 40 more than 30 .. there are 9 pullets in the grow out coop .. 5 speckled sussex, 2 blue cochin and 2 bought at auction a week ago
