Getting into chickens for a friend...

Hello Jason and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Glad to hear you are getting "interested" in chickens. Once you and your wife actually get them, you'll get addicted like the rest of us. This is a great place to research what you will need to successfully raise chickens. And whenever you have a question you cannot find an answer to, just post it and we will be happy to offer you our help.

Welcome to the flock! WARNING: We're all enablers here. We want you to get CHICKENS! Then more chickens. Heck you might as well get the incubator now too, lol. Here's a tip: Coop first. Big coop. No, bigger than that. Save room for the duck pond though.
Seriously, I hope you do get chickens. They do require a commitment, day in, day out. Spend time with your friend's chickens, first. Look at the coop pages. Find out what predators are in your area. Kiss your lawn goodbye. Find out if roosters are allowed. If they're not, have a plan. Another tip, finding good, non slaughter homes is hard, so wrap your mind around the idea that they might not all live to a ripe old age. It's not all fun and games, but most of us find that it's totally worth it. I hope you do too.
