Getting my chicks from Ideal This coming week!!

I ordered 8 but 4 go to me and 4 to my aunt.

How smelly will 4 little chicks be? If I keep them clean prob no smell at all?

Will they be real noisy? I have some I had to take away from momma hen before who were VERY noisy!

I have a momma hen now who has 1- 3 week old chick I wonder if she will accept the 4 chicks I'll be getting???

My chicks are coming this week too!! I am so excited! I have never had chickens before and all I want to do is snuggle with them! I am getting 6 easter eggers, 6 RIR and 2 white silkies. I hope that they will let my 2 little girls hold them when they are bigger! I live in Idaho so I hope that they don't get too cold on the way.

My order is very similar to yours, Candle98. I am getting 5 Easter Egger pullets, 8 Ideal 236 Leghorn pullets, and 5 White Silkies.

My chicks are shipping on Jan. 7, should arrive on the 9th. I am so excited!

Will they be real noisy?

YES. We bought some chicks this past spring from some folks. They were SO LOUD! PEEP PEEP PEEP PEEP all night long. GAH.

I'll to find a place where we won't hear them as much. Maybe the bathroom.

At what age will they be big enough to be outside in the brooder? It's usually about 50-60 during the day and anywhere from 50 to 20 at night.

Mine should be here wensday morning too!

I am really worried i hope the little boogers do ok in the travel and I get them wensday morning.

I can't wait to open up that box and make sure all my babies are ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My chicks should be here in the morning I am so excited and worried at the same time. If they do not call me in the morning and they do not come in I am going to be so upset. I know they wont make it till the 2nd. I have my fingers crossed I get that call in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought most hatcheries didn't accept orders this time of year because the chicks wouldn't make it. Then I noticed that most of you live somewhere warm. I can see people ordering who live in the south but Mountain Home Idaho??? Ideal accepted that order?

I'm curious - please let us know how it goes. I'd be scared stiff so I'll keep lots of good thoughts going your way.

Our last batch from Ideal came late last spring and even then it was almost too cold for the babies. By the time they'd been driven from Salt Lake to Logan in a mail truck they were looking like "Just show me where I can lay down to die." Luckily, we had a broodie hen who got right to work and warmed them all up.

The year before we ordered late fall from Ideal. When I expressed my concern and asked if I could cancel if the weather suddenly became colder she told me not to worry. I'm starting to wonder if they care or figure they can just shoot out replacements.
