Hi. My name is Amanda. I live in Minnesota. Our family is looking to get a few chickens and I am doing all my research right now. I am loving everything I am reading and Im getting really excited. The breed I am leaning towards is Buff Orpingtons, thinking of getting 3 or 4. All my questions are almost always answered on this site, I LOVE IT!
 
If your looking for a quiet breed, I don't think Orps are for you. Many people have said that they are very loud. I don't speak from experience, but I started a thread on quiet breeds and was advised against orps. Good luck resisting their cuteness!

BO's are lovely chickens and some of the other Orpington's are quite stunning too!

I see a few of you are near Minnesota. 1Muttsfan, since your weather is most like mine, what do you do for your coop in the winter??
