Don't you just love it when someone asks you a question like this
just curious, how do you know when they will hatch? They aren't like people, where we get a 'due date' and then sit around waiting until the little one decides to come into the world?

don't get me wrong I love my friend with all my heart so I tried to explain it to them as best as I could saying like when you put the eggs in is considered day one etc etc. Sometimes I need to step back and realize that not everyone knows about incubating eggs
