Getting Ready for Chicken-Showing.

Probably the most important information of all is this.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER bring your birds home and put them back with your others. There are people who will bring sick birds...knowingly or unknowingly and your birds will be exposed to them.

Keep them well separated from your others for 2 weeks and observe them for any signs of illness. If nothing develops within 2 weeks, you are probably safe to put them back.

I'm learning the hard way from the NATIONAL ABA show this past weekend in Lake City, Fl. I bought birds from a very reputable breeder who had sick chickens in their vehicle but went ahead and sold other birds who had been right next to them in the vehicle for at least a day.

Now the two I purchased are sick with either CRD or Coryza and I had already put them with my others. So now I'm having to treat everyone of my birds because they are all next to each other in their pens. Hopefully we won't lose any...but the chances are we will.

Other folks that I know also purchased from this breeder and they have sick and dead chickens.
