(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We're brand-new. Our coop will be ready in August, and we're going to get started pullets. I'm not brave enough for chicks!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None - but we're planning to get 6.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I'm mostly looking for high-producing breeds that tolerate heat well - this is Texas, after all!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Our kids getting involved, having help getting rid of bugs and leaves, and eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We love camping, lake time, travel, cooking, wine, soccer, reading, bourbon, and trying not to kill our plants.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We're a family of 4, we have a Weimaraner [previously bonkers, now semi-lazy], and we're Aggies.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Good friends told us to come here to learn, like they did.
