Getting ready to breed

I now have a Favorelle rooster. I have a brood pen and would like to isolate the two of them and try for babies. Sometimes I don't think he is getting any fertilizing done because he seems to quit trying. How long should I leave them together in hopes that she will have fertile eggs? Thanks.

If the cockerel is not mating her the eggs aren't fertile. Put them together & watch to see if he's mating. The sure fire method would be to crack the egg open & look for the bulls eye in the yolk. Sounds like he's to young. My rooster is like a sex maniac. He's got 11 girlfriends & he keeps the eggs fertile.
