You know reading all the posts and on-line research I've done about incubation is stressing me out! I think to myself - okay when a hen sits on eggs she gets up, the weather changes daily and so hence the temp. - there are many variable conditions......so why does it seem so complicated to incubate them!
I have a LG 9200 that I borrowed from a friend. The first batch of eggs arrived in the mail today and I am expecting many more over the next couple days. It is very hot out in here the San Diego area right now - over 100 where I live.
I plan to keep the incubator in my spare room - block the window with a dark sheet and hope for the best.
I really want a successful hatch but need some advise.
I will sanitize the incubator tonight and then turn it on to hopefully stabilize. Looks like, according to what I've read that I need a couple decent thermometers.
Should I put a wet sponge it there for humidity?
Do I do this 24 hrs before I put the eggs in?
If so, should the sponge not touch the eggs?
Do I take out the wire basket for now?
I can only turn the eggs about 3 times a day during the week - it that okay?
I know I'll have more questions..but if you could give me some straight forward advise based on your own experiences I'd sure appreciate it! Thank you very much!
