Getting Rid Of Lice And Mites

I'm curious to what the commercial people would do with such an outbreak. It's a lot of work to get rid of the pests in a small flock so I imagine they must have something good.

This would be tedious with a large flock but here's my success story with lice. I have a small flock of 20-30 that picked up lice last spring. As ARose4Heaven mentioned, Sevin dust does work. In all of the chickens dust areas I mixed in a light coat of the Sevin with a rake. I also totally cleaned out their house did a dusting in the morning after they left. Then after they went to roost I sported the rubber gloves and mask, pulled out each chicken and sprayed their hind quarters with Adams Flea and Tick with AGR. The little nasty lice died on contact. The Adams plus with AGR kills the eggs and larvae or any new critters for up to 3 months. I got paranoid after that and now do spot checks so next time I'll catch it before it gets to a full fledged outbreak.
