Hi,
I feel really bad but I need to get rid of one of my 5 week old rooster's as my flock is too small to have two but there all siblings and I feel horrible getting rid of my other male because I know he will be sad and lonley without his family and I feel bad for his siblings because he will lose there brother I feel like a bad human being

You're doing the best thing for your flock. If your flock is too small, the hens will eventually be over-mated. Your roosters will probably end up fighting each other, especially if there isn’t enough hens.
You're not a bad human being, sometimes we have to make difficult decisions for the good of our flock.

I kept both my roosters when this happened to me. I have them in their own run/coop that's inside the hens run. They get along great because they grew up together.

You need to be careful rehoming that you don't rehome to someone that will use him for cockfighting, or is just getting him to eat him, if that's not what you want.

Hi @BlueEggsAndHens :frow

Because we hatch our own birds, there is a 50/50 chance of getting hen or cockerel.

We are working on improving our self-sufficiency. So, we grow our own food as well as butcher our own meat birds.

It sounds cruel but we do take great care of our animals and in turn, they take care of us.

So, don't feel bad. You are doing what is good for the flock.

Hello and Welcome to BYC. Glad that you joined this poultry loving community. If you want to keep them both you can have a separate bachelor's pad for one at a time. Rotate them off and on with the hens when they are mature. Then if for some reason you should lose a rooster you still have one looking over the hens.
