Getting rid of some roosters.

I currently have 7 amberlink pullets, 5 golden comet pullets, 3 light brahma pullets, and 3 light brahma roosters.

They are all about 17-18 weeks old. I do hope to get about 8-10 more pullets next spring. I don't plan to hatch any eggs from my flock.

The 3 roosters currently seem to get along fine, they all crow, and all seem to breed the hens. They are very gentle, and will actually let people pet them. I enjoy having roosters and hearing the crowing, but I am looking at the food costs though and am now realizing that the two extra roosters are just "dead weight". They are sucking down food, and giving nothing back. I also think I will need the extra coop space if I get more pullets next spring.

I think I want to get rid of or cull 2 of them, but I don't know which ones to get rid of and which 1 to keep. They all seem to act identically. Is it better to wait another month or two to see if their personalities change?

If anybody in the south central Ohio area is interested in a calm, light brahma rooster or two, let me know. I have already asked about a dozen people I know here with no luck.

Otherwise, I think they will end up as supper soon.

I'd be tempted to let them stay another couple of months while watching and evaluating their personalities. Good luck in making your choice.

I would wait and see. Ive got several roosters. They protect the ladies. If i have a troublesome one he goes byebye. if they are all good id let them be.
