Getting soft shelled eggs

This is weird - Our 9 hens are 1 year 3 months old. All a sudden we're getting a few eggs with really soft shells and layers of light brown to brown with some white wash coloring. I thought we had an egg eater since we have found about 5 eggs now mashed and some of the egg gone. That was until this morning when I went in a collected a perfect looking egg and put my finger right thought it when I gently picked it up. Now I think they are not getting eten but just stepped on and broken.

Same food, oyster shell readily available - 24/7 and extra treats each day which are carrots, cabbage, broccoli and a small amount of whole wheat bread.

Any idea of what might be going on? Suggestion to get tougher shells.

Here's some info about shell less eggs. Getting them occasionally is normal.

And some other food sources of calcium. Some people do not feed citrus to chickens and molasses can cause diarrhea. Sometimes I sprinkle powdered milk on their food.

Imp - thanks for the information. After I posted my question, I remembered that my husband - who feeds the chickens - mentioned that he got a new brand of food. Suppose to be the same only cheaper. Guess I should have researched more at home before posting. We were feeding Nutrena brand before. Going to check the labels on both and see if calcium is different between the two. Like your long list of treats - thanks again.
