We are long-time organic gardeners who just starting on our adventure in raising backyard chickens. I guess you could now say we have a micro-farm going. We eat out of our garden many months of the year and also raise medicinal herbs and flowers to make our own salves, creams, teas and natural cosmetics. Our 8 chicks, hatched in April, are now beautiful young hens, 2 BPR, two RIR, one Del, two mottled Buff Orps and one gorgeous, golden Buff Orp who sadly, turned out to be a boy. So we have to re-home "Mr. Lemon Drop" asap. :-( We would appreciate any help we can get in finding him a good free-rage home an could deliver anywhere within reason.
We'd love to get to know more backyard farmers in our area of NW Philly.

Success!! I found out that someone I know who lives in the country was without a rooster for his flock (the old one was too rough) and was happy to take my Buff Orp roo. Given how hard it is to re-home a rooster, I am delighted to have found him not only a home but a good job. Whew!

I'm just "up the road a bit" in Stroudsburg, PA. Glad to see you found a home for your rooster. When I needed to re-home 2 of my roosters, I used FreeCycle (google it). I had 3 takers within 10 minutes after it posted.
