They'll be free ranging. I know a lot of people keep them in confinement. Any tips? Would like to butcher at 8 weeks :)

Free ranging is a good idea as confined CornishX produce a massive amount of feces.
The only issue with free ranging a meat bird is they are slow and vulnerable to predators like hawks.

We raise them outside....

Ours are raised in mobile tractors moved once a day, they birds get all the benefits of free range and all the protection of the tractor.

I think this is your biggest challenge, they are very susceptible to predation. It don't really change as they get bigger like most layer breeds, an 8 week old CX can't run fast enough to escape anything. Last one I had squeak out of a tractor my 5 year old son was able to wrangle without much effort.

Make sure you keep them safe
