I bought 8 "Ameracauna" eggs from a local chicken owner. I didn't see the chickens, and even if I had I probably wouldn't have known whether they were true to the breed or Easter eggers.

I know it bothers a lot of people, but it doesn't bother me so much. However, I have 22 eggs set to hatch and only intend on keeping 5. So if I am posting them at 1-2 weeks old for people, how can I tell if they're true Ameracaunas or Easter Eggers? I don't want to mislead anyone.

Color and legs is probably the easiest way. @EmmaRainboe knows a lot about this.

Also, Ameraucana is the correct way to spell it. Not Ameracauna. Ameracauna implies Easter Egger.

And the breed specific colors are wheaten, splash, black and blue, right?

I am just worried that at 1-2 weeks, I won't really be able to make a good determination.

When are they hatching? I can't help a lot with EE's and Ameraucanas.

Not for 19 days. Cart ahead of the horse. I don't even know if any are going to be viable. It's my first hatching and I'm just ridiculously excited!

Thank you!! I've read it and aced the quiz. Even the spelling. I'll save it to re read it and help me retain the information. Like I said, the breed doesn't matter so much to me, but I want to make sure I give correct information to whoever gets my baby chicks.
