Oz, I am so glad Lillian has resigned because if I was in Mrs Oz's or your place I would not have so much self restraint. I think I would have sent her packing weeks ago, I admire both of you for what you have achieved, it would have been amazing in any circumstances but with so many incidents with staff over the last few years I am in awe!

How many hens/chicks are you shipping out a week now?

Are planning on putting eggs under the broodies?

We were worried about firing lillian for fear of losing Dodong as well. Her resignation worked out perfectly.

We shipped 300 birds this month. I have 100 or so paid for already for next month.

There are in the vicinity of 450 juveniles in brooders and grow out coops.135 are accounted for between tonights shipment and presales.

I dont put chicken eggs under broodies because I think it will be confusing. We give them duck eggs and then get a mamma scovie to foster the ducklings. We also hatch guineas under broody hens but place keets in the brooder on day one, Ducklings are banned from the brrosers.

that being said, i would prefer lillian over rona.

Without lillian there I feel it will run smoothly

just another chapter in our adventure....

retirement is not in our near future but a modified work pattern is.

I sent Pig a PM on this because I didn't want to get off topic on Oz's thread, but since the discussion started, here's my two cents worth.

I, like Pig stated above, get different results.  I know, I know, it should not be possible, but I get blue, self blue, lavender, and black along with splash chicks from my Ameraucanas.  I have a splash rooster over a splash hen and two blue wheaten hens.  Most of the chicks are splash.

I don't know what hatches from each hen because I do not segregate the eggs, but I get some interesting colors that are not supposed to happen..........

I've never understood the difference between blue and self blue. Could someone enlighten me?
