As white trash tend to be undereducated and therefore can only hold menial tasks, the terms are synonimous. I have seen my share throughout the usa in oz there are bogans and yobbos. Bogans are lower socioeconomic class while yobbos are loud and obnoxious. A bogan can also be a yobbo. A hick is a person who may lack social skills because they are from the bush In British English there is the word yokel which has much the same pejorative overtones.

Oz I feel I must inform you that I have never heard yokel pass from anyone's lips LOL The word chav is probably the most common derogatory term for a lower social class person. That did make me chuckle though, Now back on topic

dads family was considered Poor White trash.... Lots of common law marraiges... back in the day when children born that way were considered B*****ds. (this was an old term for children from an unwed mother)
Today it would be considered fodder for Dr. Phil.

Surprisingly though when i talked to his sisters I found they were quite intelligent. and survivors. Just no schooling. Grandpa didn't have any place for school for his children. I think Dad was the only one that had a high school diploma.

Bringing all this redneck discussion back to the "topic"

In many ways the Philippines is similar to the description above. Many are in defacto marriages, Often kids births are not recorded, Sometimes they are recorded with wrong names or wrong sex,

A whole host of kids dont finish high school.

Analou dropped out of college. Rona graduated high school, Lillian got pregnant in her senior year. Ging was a 7th grade drop out. None of the guys finished high school. Ariel is our first big hope but we just found out his mother usurps his salary and may not graduate because he could not finish a couple of projects.

Bernie was incredibly smart and could have done well though he could barely read and let pride stand in his way of seeking help. Dodong is also bright, I often wonder what they could have been with the right opportunity,

I advertised our new position for an Ag Science grad. It has been read by 6000 people in agriculture based groups on facebook. I loaded it onto a local job board and a nation wide classifies site. We emailed it to 15 Agricultural Schools and hand delivered it to the three local ag colleges.

I expected hundreds of applicants

We have one resume.

My mom had 8 or so siblings. Her dad biked to work every day (worked in a shipyard as a welder). She had her first job at 12, sweeping the floors at a bakery. Her mom passed away at 34, my mom was 14. As the eldest female, it was understood she dropped out of school to be the new mom, so to speak.

My mom was fortunate that even though the highest grade she completed was 8th, she was accepted into a nursing school once the other siblings were old enough to take care of themselves. She used to tell me stories about clothes that were handed down sibling after sibling. Breakfast was bread with a bit of sugar on it. Lunch meats were a thing reserved for Sundays.

My dad worked nightshift sorting mail at a distribution center. His dad was a milkman (the kind that went door to door with a cart and the giant metal cans of milk). My dad too had 8 or so siblings. I sadly don't know all too much about his family.

Both my parent were born shortly after WW2 in Holland.. 1945 and 1949




I think if they'd compare notes with the folks in the Phillipines they'd have a lot more in common than one would think.

If I recall correctly the Philipines have quite the history too.

Our girl got to decide what she will wear today. She chose to be a princess. She is recycling one of her flower girl outfits


Maybe I am just a biased parent, but I think she is such a pretty thing
