Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I frankly don't worry too much about giving layer to non-layers. Hasn't led to trouble yet. I'll buy some starter when they're in the brooder, but after they join the flock, everyone gets layer. I would imagine a growing bird would need calcium too!

I agree for the most part. I'm playing the numbers here, if I have bad eggs from 10 older layers here by giving them the flockraiser and calcium on the side, I feel its better than feeding layer and possibly harming the 15 new pullets for the long run. Time will tell but it stinks getting 3 to 4 usable eggs out of a flock that size. And still feeding them as pets basically.

Both weddings sound awesome. I think having family and friends put in their efforts makes it all the more memorable.

It was the family and friends that made the whole event so special.

I would not usually describe such private details in public, but this weekend has been desperately sad for me. 2 of my students were killed by a presumed drunk driver on Saturday. These young ladies were 23 and 24, amazing people, and had just started medical school. So unbelievably sad and a utter waste of potential. I can't even imagine their parents agony.

Go call your parents and kids. Give them a hug. Do not part on bad terms.

My condolences, Phage.

We lost a classmate in college that way.

Lost a high school classmate that way; twice. She was in a car accident with drunk driver and died twice in hospital. After recovering and returning to school 3 months later, was taken by another drunk driver.
