Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Unless we suddenly get lucky, we are going to be reevaluating cocopoultyfarms existence

Could you make an arrangement with the guy that wanted to open a franchise? Wouldn't that be better than shutting down entirely? You would lose some control, but if you ran it like a company like McDonalds, you could write it up to where he has to run his side just like you do yours, you could let him have to deal with keeping the thing staffed while you manage it more or less. Or split true profits with him and have him more or less as a manager under you, he would deal with the staffing issues but you would still call the shots, you were looking at getting someone similar to that before anyway weren't you?

Are the sales of birds and pigs covering the day to day running cost of feed, labour, and repairs (not counting the infrastructure investment) ?

Yes the sales are covering running costs as well as paying off initial investments. They actually paid off 25% of capital investment in the first six months of selling properly.

Its a shame that we have such problems with labor as its a great little business. If it continues as it is it will be in the black by June next year and making a good 25k a year after that. That's without the pig semen sales and no return on goats. If we could get the right help, a $50k per year return is very possible.

I wonder if I can learn to climb trees at my age?

I have got to see this, let me know when you decide to try.
