Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Well, in between working 60+ hours a week, coming home to take care of the chickens and the dogs, and taking care of the house, I am finally caught up with this monster thread!! That took forever, but was worth every hour. I caught myself several times yelling at my computer and phone when the problems occur. But on the other hand, the leaps forward always bring a smile to my face.

After reading about all of the heartache over labor, I have decided that my husband and I are going to quit our jobs, sell the house, pack up the essentials, and come work for the great and powerful Oz. I was born and raised in Ohio, so I have the speaking English down. I have a degree in Computer Science and Excel is an old friend, so if you want reports, you got it!! I cannot, nor will I EVER be able to climb any sort of tree. But it seems you have several nimble guys there that are capable of handling that.

What I can do is take care of all the animals. I originally wanted to be a Vet but ended up on the IT spectrum instead.

Now....... to convince the hubby.......

If only I could.........

Glad you made it! I have been watching your name up in the corner.

You need to have a serious chat with hubby. All the chicken he can eat. Thats a pretty good enticement!

We are getting about 2 doz mixed breed eggs per day now so we even have an excess of eating eggs.

Its a no brainer!

Ok, dropping out of lurkerdom again. Coupla things I want to mention.

I cannot tell you how many times I'm reading this thing and I remember this is a guy who just wanted some eggs for breakfast.....
And now he has a "bloody water buffalo"....... Always good for a chuckle of greater or lessor magnitude.

Also.....
I just discovered spreadsheets a few years ago. I know they are probably old hat to everybody else, but to me they are wonderful, magnificent things. I sure wish I had been more serious in those math and arithmetic classes when I was young.

Thank you for listening...

I never thought I would ever own a chicken but I would have laid down serious money on the bet that I would never own a goat. Now I even have a bloody water buffalo.

Husbands can change their mind.

Speaking of that "bloody water buffalo", how is she doing? I believe last you told us you were on the fence on if you were going to keep her or not.

Vincent has started training her. As she had little discipline as a youngster, its going to take some time so I am still on the fence.I may still sell her. We cant fit her in the freezer.
