you could always move.

LOL I have to admit those storms scare me

a storm that you know is coming and can take measures to protect yourselves from versus a life sentence of below freezing winters and tornadoes

every place has its own version of mother nature to deal with. its what you are willing to deal with I guess

I just don't know if I could hack the humidity there. My DH and I went to Georgia about 5 years ago to visit his brother and see his daughter graduate. It was May and the heat and humidity laid me out with a migraine and the feeling that I was suffocating. Intense cold can make me hurt but the heat and humidity makes me sick and immobile. August has always been my H**l month.

the thing about the tropics is you never get days above 92. Most days are 88 so its not like that east coast and southern opression. add the ocean breeze and its surprizingly tolerable

now in the city its a different story

as long as we have chickens to watch and play with...I can deal with just about anything!

Greetings from Oakhurst CA

I decided to spend the weekend taking my parents to Yosemite National Park. Its a glorious place and my favorite nationak park. Mrs Oz and I have been to many. I used to joke that I am on first name basis with the rangers at the Grand Canyon. We have also been to Kings Canyon, Sequioa, Death Valley, Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce, Arches, Biscayne, Carlsbad, Dry Tortugas, Everglades, Grand Tetons, Redwood, Joshua Tree, Volcanoes and Channel Islands National Parks.

Its nice to be on a road trip with my folks. Its been stress free with crisp fresh air and plenty of laughs.

Oz, I just found BYC this past week and found your thread yesterday. I have spent hours reading the first ten pages of it and am fascinated. I'm 26 and have been to the PIs three times in the last 11 years. The first time I went with my family; the last two I've gone by myself and stayed with friends there. My friends live in Angeles City on the main island.
The PIs truly feel my home away from home - that's how welcome and warm people are made to feel when they visit. My best friend in the world lives there and I speak just enough of Tagalog to surprise people lol. I can't wait to go back (I was there in Jan of '12), but in the meantime, reading this will have to do me :D
Thanks!
