Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I believe Ivomectrin injectable can be used as a pour on.... the dosage is waaay lower on injectible though so I wouldnt want to try to inject small animals with it.

But you can also use horse wormer paste.... Ivermectin. Or Heart guard drops for dogs. Anything that kills heart worms I believe has ivermectin in it.

For instance I use Ivermectin Horse wormer for my four goats. I looked up the dosage online and it wound up to be about an eighth of an inch per goat.... OMG they mugged me for it. It smells and is flavored like apple.

But seriiously Cattle pour on is not expensive.... keep it in the refrigerator. Just remember if you get it on your skin you will be wormed as well....

A friend has gotten three new geese from an unknown source, so I suggested since they had no treatments at any time in their lives that she should def treat them while isolation. I will assume that I should suggest treatment for internals with Safeguard or Valbazen along with the pour on Iver. she did today? Should she wait a few days for the Safeguard or dont you think it will matter? Thanks!

Did anyone read the summary of the ivermectin abstract summary dawg53 posted?

I use safeguard as well. - but nothing beats externals like ivermectin

We will have to make some transport cages

Hopefully you don't have to resort to what a guy did to one of our birds when leaving today...just stuff them into a feed bag

Maybe I just spoil my birds too much to think a box would do.

Some pretty big quail numbers, can't believe how fast they mature.

Ma'am Sally here in the Philippines we deworm our gamefowls with betel nut (areca catechu) @ 1g per 1kg bod weight & we found it very satisfactory. It
get rid of parasite better than commercial antihelminthic drugs. It can be use too for deworming goats & sheeps @ 20g per 30kg body weight.
