Bad news I came home from work and found my RIR hen floating :-( can't believe it so bummed!! Can't wait till the big coop is built so I don't have to deal with this again.

Sorry for the hen. Hang on. Everything happens with a reason.

I convinced the hubby to let me buy the Brinsea!!! YAY!!!!

So...can you guys tell me the best place to buy hatching eggs from? I'm looking for Australorp, Orpington (I don't care which color), and Speckled Sussex. I'll set my own Barred Rock eggs.

Local would be best, to avoid shipping. But I'm not coming up with anything in our Craigslist.

I have forgotten in what part of the world you reside.?

Ohh...poor henny..to whomever lost her. I know, it is tough to lose a hen. I myself can afford no losses at the moment. Only having 9 hens, 2 of which are game. Games don't lay very often, but make super broodies.

We are in the Finger Lakes region of NY. We will be taking a road trip to Pittsburgh, PA sometime in early April, if anybody is local to that area and wants to sell. (Hubby has to have a medical procedure at UPMC...salivary stones...I always said he had rocks in his head ;-) )

Otherwise, I'll gladly buy shipped eggs.

What am I looking at? a candy egg?

Yes, it is a chocolate egg with a plastic egg inside that, and a small toy or prize inside the plastic egg. At least that is how I remember them.
