Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I need to medical help of the forum. One of my mixes pooped and something looked odd as it was a lot of poop. I went over to check it and found what looks to be a round worm about a half inch long alive moving in it. I have Ivermectin pour on and need to know the dosage in drops to put on all the birds. I have 13 large fowl and 11 8 week old silkies. Thank in advance.
i dust with DE for things that outside my birds & i then add a little to their feed which does a nice job of clearing out whatever nasties are inside them.

if I remember right it's 1/2 cc for large fowl and 1/4 cc for silkies and
bantams or you could use Wazine, but I have been asleep since last time
we wormed soooooooooo

I think those doses are high.

The "book" says 0.2mg per kg

The concentration of Ivermectin pour on is 5mg/ml

An average hen is say 2.5 kg (5.5lbs)

A 5.5lb hen would get 0.5mg or 0.1ml.
A 11lb big roo would get 0.2ml

I use a 1cc syringe and treat 7 birds with a very technical squirt each for my adult birds.

I treated tonight as the were all on the roost. The big girls got .25 ml and the silkies all got .1 ml. That turned out to be about a drop for the little ones and 2-3 drops for the big ones. I'm sure some got on feathers and not skin so I don't think the extra will hurt. Do I do it again at 10 days or wait longer?

The weather here is nuts at the moment. It's 67F in the house right now... It was 84F in the house two days ago (I don't run the a/c when hubby isn't home). I went from wearing a tank top two days ago to wearing a turtle neck. My poor babygirl was pale this morning, her hands purple.

I had her in a fleece sleeping sack, but that wasn't enough. We might actually *gasp* need the heater!

Poor critters outside have not a clue what's going on. The dogs found themselves a little 3x3 patch of sun

I saw a few pale combs this morning and some sad pooffy birds. Once the sun came out they were a lot happier. It was in the 40s last night, apparently one spot in Alabama got some frost... This afternoon it's 72F. Next week we're looking at 87F.. last week we were in the 90s.

That's the weird thing about this time of year in temperate zones. The weather is as confused as the rest of us.

Here it has been raining. The wet season will slow this month. We get a mini dry season for two months then the mini wet season from the north east monsoon over Christmas until March.

That's a bit like our winter. Its much cooler because the wind hits full tilt straight off the ocean at twenty knots most of the day. Any plant that is not 100% dark tolerant gets a beating and the grass goes brown.

Its a beautiful Monday morning.

Enjoy your Sunday evening
