I have plans for a mega bator to set with and then use the current bators to go into lockdown with. Mrs Oz had indicated a willingness to man the bators but as she spends a big part of her time in the city we have to set up a back up power supply ad they often lose power for 8 to 10 hours straight. Her dad has asked to borrow a bator so I may have the started somethi

you need a few good ole reliable broody hens that way you won't have to worry about power outages! Did you happen to hatch any of that type this last time? I'm not sure which is the best broody type.

I have a hard shell golf bag. Its actually ideal. The are too long for the automated baggage belts so they get handled seperately and delivered to the plane directly. They also bypass the CT scanners and get manually inspected. At LAX that is done near check in so I can supervise. I have done in excess of 40 round trips ac across the pacific so I have it well studied. Additionally I get to carry a golf bag weighing up to 20kg free as a premier frequent flier. Lets just not tell the airline I dont own golf clubs

I am bringing cochins this trip and they are good moms but my local girls will eventually get that role. My 5 local hens all just had 4 chicks each while I was There. I need to build a special brooding condo to keep them from free ranging till the chicks get larger.

Quail are an excellent idea. I have some hatching as we speak!!!
I think so too, Pound for pound, they are probably the best meat birds out there.

Quail eggs can be bought in the supermarkets in the Philippines so I need to check out the competition. Coturnix are Asian originally and may be what they have. If I do bring them, would take jumbo browns and A&M whites.

Its going to take some work to help set them up. I am not sure I can do it remotely so I will probably have to wait till I can get Bernie the gardener into a groove with the chickens first or until I can spend more than a few days there. My last trip was unique. Normally I am only there for a week. I have even left here on a Thursday night, arriving Saturday lunchtime and then return Monday for work Tuesday.

If I can squeeze in a trip over Easter - that's the way it will be. Just enough time to warm up the bators, buy supplies for the new batch of coops and give my wife and kids a kiss and cuddle. Philippine airlines has changed their schedule slightly for their domestic flights - adding the layover time going each direction it has robbed me of five hours with my family. When you spend 1700 dollars for the flights and are only there 55 hours, thats a lot of cuddles
