Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Today was tax day for us Merkans

I filed mine at 855PM - a new record.

The first year I was going out with Mrs Oz we had a breakneck trip to the post office - got there at 11:59pm.

The Philippines uses the same tax year as the USA (Jan - Dec) but Australia uses July - June.

Anyway, its behind us for another year.

Back to the chickens....

Update on the Philippines and Getting The Flock Out of Here part 2 - The Motherlode

Our 86 cotournix are just going into lockdown as we speak. I had a temp spike on day 1 so If i did not fry them, we should have a pile if the little buggers by thursday.

Then a quick clean of the styrobator so I can put the 18 Pekins somewhere while the 183 chicken eggs go into lockdown on friday.

No losses to the Avian Pox so far. I will isolate these chicks for the first 5 weeks till I can get there with the vaccine. I am bring Mareks and Avian Pox vaccines with me. I can get Newcastle there.

its going to be a busy few weeks in the Philippines

i did something like that back about 25 years ago OZ
i was heading from south carolina to new hampshire (a 23 hour drive)
i picked up a hitch hiker in virginia & dropped him off in southern new hampshire
he was glad for the ride & i needed help staying awake
did the same about ten years ago drove across three states to pick up four hives of honey bees ,, gotta luv it

Just a check in oz,, my egg order is placed and paid for with pick at Meyer hatchery on the 26 th bator & turner are in route to my Ohio address and the Texas poultry foam has been delivered , operation over fowl is in full swing ! Cheers

Oz I will ask here since stuff is getting lost on the other threads..... when do you head home again?
It looks like I am flying out May 23. I was confused as to when Memorial Day is - but its the 27th.

I will stay a week this time (arrive Sat, Leave Sun).

Because of the adoption process we may have to spend the week in the Manila area - if that is the case, then it will be a quick flight home to the farm to set eggs and then return to the big city to be with my family. Wife wins over chickens any day.
