Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Y'all have no idea how happy I am to find out that some of the Cotournix are going to hatch. I had a bugger of a time on the first night. The temp spiked to killer heights. I was all resolved to get a new batch of eggs. but Bernie, the Filipino Poultry Phenom has managed to keep the bator at temp for another 16 days and chirping is a great sign. Lock down started 2 days ago. Official hatch day tomorrow. 86 eggs. lets keep our chicken toes crossed.

we only have 4 or 5 that are hatching. Bernie is following the rules and wont open the bator for 48 hrs. If we get 20 I will be excited. in 8-10 weeks they start breeding. we could be setting 30-60 more a week real soon. we just need 5 - 10 breeding trios. there is money in quail meat and eggs there
